How to Control Your Pool and Spa with Alexa

The era of the connected home is here and your pool is no exception. Now, with the right technology, you can control your pool and spa with a simple voice command. Simply say, “Hey Alexa, turn on the spa jets” and you can slide right into your hot tub.

Required Technology

In order to start running your pool by voice command, you’ll need two things. First, you need an iAquaLink pool automation system along with the app and account. For those that are unfamiliar, iAquaLink allows you to control your pool systems through your smartphone.

The second piece of technology required is an Amazon Alexa app on your phone. iAquaLink also works with other home automation systems such as Creston, Control4, Savant and RTI, but does not support Google Home, yet.

How to Connect iAquaLink and Alexa

  1. First, log in to your Amazon Alexa app on your phone and navigate to Skills & Games.
  2. Search for iAquaLink
  3. Select the iAqua Link skill and tap enable to use button.
  4. Log in with your iAquaLink app credentials.
  5. Once iAquaLink and Alexa are connected, tap discover devices (still within the Alexa app). Select the devices you would like to control. There may be several, including pool, spa, heater, etc.
  6. Rename each selected device for simplified voice control.
