Inground Pool Myths and Facts
An inground swimming pool can transform your backyard into a personalized oasis for fun, relaxation, and time spent with family and friends—but for many homeowners, common myths and misconceptions about having a pool may hold them back from building one. Here are a few of the most common myths vs. facts about inground pools:
Myth: Inground pools are unaffordable luxuries.
Fact: While it’s true that custom inground pools are a significant investment, the idea that you need to be wealthy in order to have one is a myth. The cost of an inground pool can vary greatly depending on a variety of factors, including size, shape, and optional features. At Aqua Pool & Patio, we work closely with each of our clients to design and build a pool that suits their vision while staying within their budget. Additionally, our high-quality gunite pools are built to last a lifetime or longer, meaning that you should never need to worry about having to replace your pool.
Myth: Inground pools are difficult to maintain.
Fact: Many homeowners also have concerns about the investment of time and money required to maintain an inground pool. Fortunately, advances in pool technology and construction methods have greatly simplified the process of keeping your pool clean and beautiful. For example, we recommend installing an in-floor cleaning system—also known as a self-cleaning pool—which will filter the water more effectively, circulate chemicals and heat better, and reduce the costs associated with both. If you’d like additional help maintaining your pool, we offer a range of customizable maintenance programs to suit your needs.
Myth: Having a pool is only worthwhile if you live in a warm climate.
Fact: While there’s no denying that pools get the most use when the weather is warm, homeowners in New England and other regions with long, cold winters have several options for extending the swimming season and making their investment worthwhile. The two most common pool heating options are heat pumps, which can help keep your pool at a constant desired temperature and work well as long as outside temperatures are above 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit, and gas heaters, which we recommend if you have an attached spa, as they can quickly heat the water in both the pool and the spa to facilitate on-demand use of both.
