How Long Does it Take to Build a Pool?

Pool Construction Timeline
When you work with Aqua Pool to build a custom gunite pool, the process generally consists of the following steps:
- During this phase, we will learn about your vision for the project and will survey your property to identify any limitations for the design.
- Before beginning construction on your new pool, we will need to obtain a permit from your town or city. Each municipality has different requirements, so this phase may range from quick and easy to time-consuming and complex. At Aqua Pool, we have experience working with many towns throughout Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Our team will prepare the required paperwork—including CAD-drawn plans that are stamped by licensed engineers—thereby expediting the process of securing approval for your project.
- Excavation and rebar. The construction process begins with excavating the area where your new pool will be. Then, rebar is laid to create a frame, and the plumbing and pool equipment pipes are set up.
- Gunite application and pool startup. Once the gunite is applied, it will need time to cure—which may be affected by the outside temperature and other seasonal conditions. After the gunite has completely dried, the interior finish will be applied.
- Tile and coping. Once the pool’s frame has been built, it’s time to start laying the tile and other materials. This stage is exciting as the vision for your dream pool begins to take shape.
- Once there is water in the pool, our service technicians will visit to start the pumps, add the appropriate chemicals, and program the system to get your pool ready to use. We’ll also schedule a “Pool School” with you to ensure that you understand how to operate and care for your new pool.
