How Does an Infinity Pool Work?

The design concept for an infinity pool is said to of originated in France at the palace of Versaille in the early 1400s. Popular today at luxury resorts and estates, the structure of this pool build requires several components to successfully achieve the seamless edge look.

Infinity pools are constructed with multiple walls. Rather than just one external retaining wall as featured on regular pool builds, infinity pools have a second wall that slopes away. As water gently overflows the first wall, it is collected in a basin catchall that then pumps the “caught” water back into the pool system.
